The 17th CSPV - Jinko Power: Capacity-distribution Ratio appropriately Increased for the Minimum LCOE of PV Plants

2021-12-10

On December 9, Jinko Power was invited to the 17th CSPV. Tan Qite, President of Design & Research Institute, Jinko Power and expert of the Standardization Committee of CPIA, delivered a keynote speech entitled “Capacity-distribution ratio design analysis on China's PV plants at the minimum LCOE” at the sub-forum of “PV system innovation technologies”, proposing that the improvement in capacity-distribution ratio is an effective way to reduce the cost PV power generation, and that a reasonable capacity-distribution ratio system design scheme can help achieve the optimal LCOE of PV plants.

In his speech, Tan Qite presented the current status of capacity-distribution ratio in the foreign PV industry, and shared Jinko Power's participation in the development of Chinese national standard GB50797 “Code for Design of Photovoltaic Power Station” in terms of the revision of the capacity-distribution ratio, the study cases, and the analysis of the capacity-distribution ratio at the minimum LCOE. According to him, the increase in capacity-distribution ratio can not only compensate for the loss of power plant, prolong the power generation time, reduce the cost per kWh of electricity, but can also work with the energy storage system to effectively smooth the output curves of PV projects after a certain ratio is achieved.

The introduction of the Specification for PV Power Generation System Performance (NB/T 10394-2020) in last October marked the official full liberalization of the capacity-distribution ratio in China. The Specification raised the ratio limit to a maximum of 1.8. In this regard, Tan Qite said that the “relaxation” of capacity-distribution ratio adapts to the requirements of the PV fair price era, thus being of great significance for improving the demand for modules, reducing the cost per kWh of electricity at PV plants, and speeding up the PV connection to grid at fair price.

Tan Qite further pointed out that the ways to increase the capacity-distribution ratio include compensatory over-match, active over-match, etc. Among them, the design with DC-side capacity increase will be the best choice for expanding the capacity-distribution ratio of PV plants in the future, and is the most important way for the industry to call for managing PV plant indicators based on AC-side capacity and relaxing DC-side capacity restrictions.

“Since the capacity-distribution ratio is not directly proportional to performance, enterprises still need to optimize their design depending on practical conditions of projects. Each project should be based on its solar resource endowment, land and development conditions, single-/doubled-sided modules, tracker mounting application and other factors to seek the optimal solutions.” said Tan Qite.

For power plants in various scenarios, Jinko Power has gathered abundant practical experience and technical superiorities, having upgraded technologies in respect of market insights, technology research and development, system model design, solution application, etc., and helped PV plants achieve optimal LCOE with customized life-cycle solutions.

With the advent of the era of PV grid parity, technological innovation is undoubtedly a sustainable driving force for achieving optimal returns in complex scenarios. As an all-round pioneer in new energy technologies, Jinko Power will keep on enhancing the exploration and research of system technology innovation in combination with the AI platform, provide customers with “high-quality, high-efficiency, more friendly” power plant products, provide technical support for the realization of the best LCOE throughout life cycles, and continually output innovative thinking to accelerate the arrival of the zero-carbon era.

CSPV:

CSPV is the most important academic conference on silicon materials and PV power generation in China, and has been successfully held for 16 sessions since 2005; by displaying the latest research findings and development trends in the PV segments such as silicon materials, solar cells, PV auxiliary materials, power generation system applications, testing & certification and equipment at home and abroad, CSPV promotes the sustainable and healthy development of the industry, and creates a one-stop communication platform for technical executives, industry leaders, government representatives and industry insiders.
